As February unfolds, we’re thrilled to share that Training Europe is hosting an exciting number of Erasmus+ projects in Córdoba, Spain. This month, we’ve welcomed international groups from Sweden 🇸🇪, Denmark 🇩🇰, Portugal 🇵🇹, and Germany 🇩🇪, each embarking on unique and enriching experiences. These groups have come to engage in practical training in fields like commerce 💼, hospitality 🍽️, sales 📊, IT 💻, graphic design 🎨, as well as job-shadowing opportunities in local schools 🏫. In addition to their professional learning, they’ve been immersing themselves in Spain’s vibrant culture and lifestyle, with visits to iconic sites and a deep dive into local traditions.
However, there’s one special project that we’re particularly excited about — the German group 🇩🇪, who have been working on a fascinating two-week project focused on chemistry ⚗️ and biological sciences 🧬 in the food industry 🍇. Let’s take a closer look at their journey and the incredible work they’ve been doing during their Erasmus+ experience here.
A Special Focus on the German Group’s Chemistry & Food Industry Project 🔬🍽️
While the other groups are gaining practical experience in diverse fields such as commerce, sales, graphic design, and hospitality, the German group is diving deep into a specialized project that combines chemistry and biology with the food industry. Over the course of their two-week program, they’ve been working closely with professionals in the field to explore innovative techniques used in food production, as well as learning about sustainable practices in the agricultural sector 🌱.
Here’s a breakdown of the key activities and highlights of their project:
-
Hands-On Experiences in Food Production 🍞: The participants have been visiting leading food companies in Córdoba, including CICAP and COVAP, where they’ve had the chance to explore how chemical and biological processes play a crucial role in food manufacturing. From food preservation to understanding the chemical properties of ingredients, they’re getting an in-depth look at how science influences what we eat every day.
-
Exploring Sustainable Practices 🌍: An essential component of this project has been focusing on sustainability and the environmental impact of food production. The group has learned about innovative techniques that are being implemented in the food industry to reduce waste, improve energy efficiency, and promote eco-friendly practices. This part of the project has highlighted how chemistry and biology are driving change in the sector to make food production more sustainable.
-
Collaboration with Local Experts 🧑🔬: One of the most exciting aspects of the project has been the opportunity for the German group to collaborate with Spanish experts in the fields of chemistry and biology. Through workshops, lab visits, and presentations, participants have gained valuable insights into current research trends and innovations in the food industry, as well as how science is being applied in real-world settings.
-
Cultural Exploration Through Gastronomy 🍷🍴: As part of their cultural immersion, the group has also been able to experience Spain’s rich gastronomy. Visits to local wineries, olive oil farms, and traditional Spanish food markets have allowed them to witness how Spain’s cultural heritage is intertwined with its food industry. These experiences not only complemented their scientific learning but also deepened their appreciation of the local food culture.
-
Spanish Language and Cultural Immersion 🇪🇸: Alongside the technical aspects of the project, participants have been enhancing their Spanish skills through immersive language courses and engaging in cultural activities, including flamenco shows 🎶, tapas nights 🍤, and visits to historic sites such as the Mezquita in Córdoba and the picturesque Priego de Córdoba. This cultural exposure has provided a well-rounded experience, fostering both professional growth and personal enrichment.
